BEST EMPLOYERS for Healthy Lifestyles®

The Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® awards recognize the best workforce well-being programs in the U.S., particularly those with a holistic approach to well-being, encompassing financial, emotional, social and community well-being.

The objectives of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award are to:

  • Promote external and internal recognition of effective programs and best practices, and
  • Provide a forum for sharing and comparing interventions, outcomes and success strategies

Companies must be National Business Group on Health members or non-member companies MUST meet one of the following criteria:

  • Is a Fortune 500 company or;
  • Is in the top 100 of Forbes America's Largest Private Companies or;
  • Has at least 5,000 employees.

The application consists of four parts:

  1. Strategy, Management and Culture
  2. Environment, Policies and Programs
  3. Participation & Engagement
  4. Outcomes

Applicants must:

  • Have a tobacco-free indoor policy. A tobacco-free indoor policy means that tobacco products (including e-cigarettes) are not permitted inside all company-owned buildings and/or company-leased spaces.
  • Include information about program offerings, participation rates and outcomes that are current and active - within the last two years.
  • Include holistic components about their program such as, but not limited to:
    • Social Connectedness
    • Job Satisfaction
    • Financial Security
    • Community Involvement
    • Emotional Health
  • Include information about their program's ability to track and provide results for metrics associated with employee well-being beyond physical health.
  • Have recognized the importance of linking health & well-being to business performance and can show results.

Benefits of winning the award include internal and external recognition, positive press, recruitment and talent retention.
