Key Takeaways

  • Leave policies have not escaped the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many employers have begun to offer additional leave benefits to support employees with the virus, those who are quarantining or those with caregiving responsibilities.
  • At the same time, large multinational employers are more likely than they were last year to have a global policy or philosophy (implemented locally) for their leave benefits, rather than no global policy at all.
  • Even in the midst of the pandemic, the amount of parental leave offered by large employers in the U.S. has continued to increase. The percentage of large employers offering 12 weeks or more has increased from 22% in 2020 to 36% in 2021.
