Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the world’s biggest preventable killers and has become an emerging problem throughout the developing world—especially in India. CVD and its associated diseases are costly and can greatly impact the workforce and its productivity. This document discusses how CVD has impacted population health; what needs to be done to forge a better understanding of its prevalence in India; characteristics of its workforce; and the role employers can play in prevention.
