Twenty-six employers responded to this survey, conducted between April 20 and May 3, 2022. This survey examines domestic partner benefit eligibility, enrollment rates, benefit coverage and utilization rates for employees working outside the United States.
- 73% of employers indicated they offer health benefits to domestic partners of employees outside the U.S.
- 50% of employers offering domestic partner coverage do so in all countries where they have operations as long as it is both legally allowed and culturally accepted. Another 44% do so if it is legally allowed (regardless of cultural acceptance).
- Roughly half of large employers do not know how many domestic partners are enrolled in their health benefits outside the U.S.
