Global Institute members in Nigeria are concerned about cost increases in medical benefits attributed to high medical inflation rates. Although Nigeria offers a National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), only 4% were reportedly covered in 2016. Along with problems signing up for universal health care coverage, access to quality care remains an issue. Companies have taken different approaches to providing medical insurance, ranging from international plans, to pan-African plans or local plans arranged between local brokers and medical providers.
