Business Group on Health, in conjunction with a broad group of employer plan sponsor, insurer, and health care provider stakeholders, sent a letter to the House Ways & Means Committee expressing support for bipartisan legislation, the Telehealth Expansion Act of 2023 (H.R. 1843/S. 1001). The legislation would permanently extend the flexibility for high-deductible health plans (HDHPs) coupled with health savings accounts (HSAs) to provide coverage for telehealth services on a pre-deductible basis. This flexibility was first enacted by Congress in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act in 2020 and subsequently extended for two years through 2024 in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (CAA ’23). The Business Group and other signatories encouraged the Ways & Means Committee to pass this important legislation to empower employers to further invest in telehealth support for employees and families.
