Large employers are increasingly utilizing networks of volunteer employees, commonly called “wellness champions”, as an extension of their wellness staff. These volunteer champions are key to building a culture of health.

Large employers are increasingly utilizing networks of volunteer employees, commonly called “wellness champions”, as an extension of their wellness staff. The Business Group’s 2020 Large Employers’ Health Care Strategy and Plan Design Survey report found that 77% of large employers have some type of wellness champion network, although the size varies greatly, and 56% of employers have at least 50 wellness champions in their network. These volunteer champions are key to building a culture of health.
